Released in November 2021, Centering Ourselves documents the breadth and depth of Black women’s leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic, the racial reckoning of 2020, and the presidential election.
Centering Ourselves outlines the wisdom and effectiveness of doing things differently and shows the readiness, fortitude, sacrifice, and humanity of women who are stepping up in the most challenging times of our current history to reshape the field of professional philanthropy.
Voice. Vision. Value. commissioned this report in partnership with Frontline Solutions International and lead researcher and report author, Dr. Jessica Barron. It is the first in a series of three reports that expand on previous studies by offering a larger, multi-generational interview sample, a more expansive discussion beyond hiring and retention, and addresses the current historical moment.
Voice. Vision. Value. and Dr. Barron are currently working on a second report which will focus on the proven strategies developed and implemented at philanthropic institutions with a track record of promoting Black women executive leaders.
